Self guided is way to go in Charleston

Self guided tour hit all the spots that group tours go to, but we lingered when we wanted for as long as wanted. Be aware that the jail is closed, being restored- the outside is covered in scafolding.

I have done ghost tours in many cities. It’s one of my favorite ways to get to know a city when traveling.
This audio tour was a great value. We saved a lot of money and got all the things I would want from a ghost tour, plus we could pause it whenever we wanted and stop for a drink or snack and then pick it up at our own pace.

Great tour for the price. You hear most of the same stuff as the more expensive tours. Was on our own schedule so we got to stop at all the pubs on the way.
We also found a green light in some of our pictures during the St. Phillips stop. Seemed to be in a different spot each picture!

Thought the tour would be a fun way to explore the history of local ghost stories. It did do that but the over dramatizing and ridiculous sound effects were annoying. We could not finish listening to it. We were also able to get it to stay pulled up on one of our devices (iPhone). The app kept shutting down on the other device (Android). The tour did do a good job of giving directions and letting you know exactly how to find the next stop.

So great audio to follow along on your journey… everything was easy to find and the directions were phenomenal… my only suggestion would be to start the tour early… once the streets clear out it’s a little spooky walking though Charleston basically alone. If you are doing this tour solo or eve with one or two others I would definitely go earlier… the cost was great and we actually passed a few groups going to the same spots with the same stories!!! We were able to experience the same thing at a fraction of the price!!!
