Tasty & Informative

Extremely friendly & Informative tour guide named Gordon. He provided a great history of both the lowcountry food as well as the history of the city of Charleston itself. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience!

We had a pretty good time, its more of a history/food tour more on the history than food, food extremely small portions not worth $190 for me and my wife, and they could shorten the tour by 1 hour and still not be rushed we had a lot of awkward down time

Blake Mims was our tour guide. He did an excellent job of sharing the history of Charleston and he loves to cook himself so he had wonderful southern recipes to share.

Underwhelmed
Stephanie
, Dec 2021
This was mine and my boyfriends first trip to Charleston and we were only going to be here for not even 48 hours and therefore wanted to experience the most in that time. I’ve done quite a few other food tours in different cities and countries and this tour was very different and, unfortunately, did not meet our expectations. I would like to first add that the tour guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable and proud of her city. You get about 6 tastings (as listed on their site) but some of the portions were very tiny. We left still pretty hungry and did not feel like we got $80-$90 of food/experience. In addition, we only had tastings at 2 restaurants and 1 pastry shop. The 2 restaurants were very empty and we had 2-3 tastings at each place vs going to more restaurants and tasting a dish that they’re known for and moving on. We spoke to other guests of the tour and it seemed like they all similar opinions and was underwhelmed with the tour. The tour guide did provide a verbal list of places to check out but overall we did not leave this tour feeling like we “experienced” Charleston and all it has to offer. in addition, we ordered a soda at the second restaurant (which was supposed to be included) and got charged for it. Given the fact that it was only $2 we didn’t see the sense in making a fuss about it…the tastings we had were fairly good but probably wouldn’t do a tour with this specific company again

Informative just not exciting

The food was good, all nice places. Informative. But very low energy level, slow passed therefore just didn't make it very exciting.

Gordon, a former chef, was a fascinating guide who shared his personal culinary knowledge of the local cuisine while also mixing in some of Charleston’s interesting history. Thanks so much for introducing us to some of Charleston’s food favorites! We loved the green fried tomatoes! Fun day in Charleston!! Thanks, Gordon

A taste of Charelston

We throughly enjoyed our tour, learning the history of families and the low country. Gordon, our guide, was very informative and personable. The restaurants chosen were landmarks, and we enjoyed all of the tastings, especially the grits at Virginia’s! And we enjoyed meeting the other tour guests. Our only regret is that we were unable to go on a tour earlier in the week as they are offered only on Fridays and Saturdays, so we could make reservations at a couple of restaurants we liked. We would definitely go on another one of Bulldog’s tours on our next visit to Charleston. ( our group consisted of me and my husband and two adult children)

Wonderful food and tour guide. It was my first food tour and plan to do more of them. Gives an idea of where you would like to eat a full meal.
