Not worth the investment

You really can’t see much on the moonlight tour except lots of traffic. Seats are cramped and uncomfortable. And no one told us the commentary was on English Channel 2 so we lost the commentary for the first half of the tour. Also, I made a typo in my email and didn’t catch it until it was too late. Only saved by the fact that I could forward the ticket info to another email. You should have people put in their email addresses twice and make sure they match.

So good. I wished it was different information than the day time tour. But Ioved the views at night time. It was awesome.

Watching my grandson take pictures of sights I never saw! Missed everything except LM. Also, next time: please let the driver know that a handicapped person with a scooter is on the way.

The open air bus was a fun and entertaining way to experience the city and see many of the monuments and historical buildings. It’s a comfortable ride.

Great tour. I would have liked to see more of the city though. I loved going through Georgetown and would have liked to see more areas outside of the National Mall.

Best way to have a quick (2hrs) view of the best DC sights! Seeing it (from the top of a bus at night) from a different perspective than touring each place in the day, but definitely worthwhile!

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT
Gwendolyn_D

I booked this trip/tour with specific things to see however we did not even attempt to tour the things that I booked my trip/tour for. Seat were only made for people five feet and smaller. No leg room at all. We asked for some of my monies back for FALSE ADVERTISEMENT YOU REFUSED. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS TRIP/TOUR TO ANYONE

Gwen: So sorry we did not meet your expectations. The description of our fixed-route tour is available on our website and app. If you were attempting to view something outside of that parameter, I am sorry, we do not provide a free-roaming tour as the bus is scheduled to be at 13 different stops throughout the route. We do that so guests can hop off and explore at their leisure.

So much history, so little time, but The Big Bus Night Tour combines it all. Plus, we had the best driver in all of DC.

Jill: Thank you for this wonderful and kind review! We are so happy you enjoyed your time with us.

Same as the Day tour
Kristy_Q
, Apr 2022
This was described as live tour to see the monuments lit up at night. It was not live and it was the exact tour as the day except at night.
icon Response from Host , Apr 2022
The Night Tour and Day Tour are completely different. The monuments that you see are at night are the same as the day tour as they are the most desired attractions. The Night Tour ventures out to VA, Pentagon, Georgetown, Iwo Jim, and BLM. The Day Tour does not pass any of these. Please visit the Big Bus Tours app for the live map. You will instantly see the difference between day and night. Thank you for your review.

Seeing all kinds of the city from a safe and quick view! I could have done without the branches in the face, but added to the adventure.

It was freezing. I almost couldn't stand it. There should be a warning to let people know if the temperature us below 50 wear a coat
icon Response from Host , Nov 2021
Mary: Yes, DC is chilly this time of year. We pushed our times back to accommodate the darker hours of the night. We want our guests to appreciate the beauty of our cityscape in the darker hours. Please bundle up and try us again!

Don't do it!
bmartin

David the drivers was precious. That's it. 1. The place to meet the bus is HARD to find. 2. At night you can only see 1/2 the memorials or monuments. 1/2 the stuff you don't get close to or it's impossible to see because it's dark. 3. Couldn't wait to get off. 4. Don't book.
icon Response from Host , Nov 2021
BMartin: We are sorry we didn't meet your expectations. Please try our day tour which allows you to hop on and hop off at any one of the memorial stops we offer. We are the official concessionaire for bus touring for the National Park Service around the mall. We can get you closer than anyone else. The Night Tour is a ride-only tour that allows you to see the cityscape at night. It allows you to see the monuments lit at night as well. Please try us again.

Was really nice to see the monuments lit up at night. You have to watch low hanging limbs, we got conked in the head a couple of times. (Limbs were hard to see coming at night.).
icon Response from Host , Nov 2021
Patrick: We are so sorry about that tree conking business. We work as diligently as we can with the city and the federal government to mitigate low-hanging limbs. Thank you for writing the review. Please try us again.

The lady doing her best to organize her companies disorganization and the bus driver. Better get there early early.
icon Response from Host , Nov 2021
Thank you for the review. Boarding 200-250 people on 3-4 different buses in the dark can be challenging. We appreciate you pointing out the work our service team was doing. We do encourage guests to arrive early as we leave promptly at 7pm.

Waste of money......tour very disorganized, whilst driver was fine the narration was awful. Too cold this time of year if not dressed correctly. Roads are not geared for old busses. So glad to get the hell off it. Walked back from Lincoln Memorial as the thought of getting back on was too much.
icon Response from Host , Nov 2021
Karen: We are sorry we didn't meet your expectations. We pushed our times back in order to allow the tour to be fully in the dark. Please try us again when conditions are more favorable and remember to dress warmly!

Must Do while in DC

We went on the Big Bus DC Night Tour on an absolutely beautiful October evening. Instructions and details for the tour were clear and easily understood, and the advance ticket process was easy. All of the staff, from the ticket takers to our driver David were cheerful and helpful. Driver Dave in particular is a gem! So funny, knowledgeable, and sweet. All of the members of our group learned facts we hadn’t known before, and we loved seeing and hearing about the various other DC buildings mentioned, in addition to the main monuments and attractions. This 90-100 minutes tour is perfect when you want to see the monuments at night, but don’t want to spend over three hours doing it. Thank you for a well-priced interesting tour that is an educational delight for all ages.
icon Response from Host , Nov 2021
Thank you for the thoughtful, and kind review. We think the world of Dave too. Please come again!

DO NOT DO THIS
Jay
, Sep 2021
This was overpriced, and a waste of time. P.S. this is coming from someone who sat at the bottom decker (so if you want a great/good experience, you NEED to sit at the top) 1. The bottom decker was extremely humid, and hard to breathe. The air was not working! My partner and I along with another couple got off the bus early. Since this was our first experience, we did not know that the top would be filled up and we’d only have the bottom option. This should be made explicit to guest before they purchase tickets. Also you cannot see the sites properly from the bottom so it truly is a waste of $$$. 2. My audio connection didn’t work. I sat there for a few minutes trying to fix it and missed a good portion of the beginning segment. After finally getting one that works, I realized that the info wasn’t the most updated. If you’re looking to gain a ton of knowledge skip this tour. There is so much history in DC so hearing so much about the football team, seems lackluster (and still referring to them as “Redskins” despite all of the controversy, what a shame. So in this regard spend a few extra bucks for other tours that you’ll actually learn from. 3. Update where people need to go. The address given was 700 L’Enfant plaza and it was impossible to find in an Uber and as tourists we didn’t know any better. So it took us nearly 20 minutes to find the bus and we ended up being extremely late. 4. At best this should be a $25 experience. It is no where worth the $44 that they charge.
